2021 and Beyond
In May 2022, PURA was given a $500,000 RACP Matching Grant by the State of Pennsylvania. PURA has to match these funds to continue development of our new home in Cobbs Creek.
Thanks to a successful appeal to Councilman Jones and Parks & Rec Commissioner, Kathryn Ott-Lovell, PURA has secured a new location for Fletcher Street Stables. With the prospect of a new facility on the horizon, PURA has started to raise money through PayPal donations.
Though ambitious, every dollar of that lofty goal is needed to make sure the new stables are ready to meet the needs of Philly’s riders and horses for years to come.
Do your part to not only give black urban cowboys a permanent home but also offer a safe space for children, teens and adults to experience horses up close and personal.
The team at PURA is hoping to break ground on the new stables sometime in 2022. The moment will be a turning point not just for Fletcher Street, but for the entire urban riding community who, for many years, was at risk of disappearing entirely.
Thanks to the wild dreams and unwavering commitment of the team behind Fletcher Street, PURA, and Concrete Cowboy, there will always be a place for Philly’s black cowboys to call home.
